15 Things You Probably Never Know or Thought about

15 Things You Probably Never Knew or Thought About

1. At least 5 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.

2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.

5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

6. You mean the world to someone.

7. If not for you, someone may not be living.

8. You are special and unique.

9. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

10. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.

11. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.

12. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in yourself, probably, sooner or later, you will get it.

13. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

14. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know.

15. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.

A Minute: They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.

Take the time .. to live and love.

A High-Tech Capital Runs Dry On Engineers

"... Ironically, one reason for the current skills shortage is the success the government has had in building up Taiwan's higher education system. These days fewer Taiwanese are going to school in the U.S. and taking jobs at big American tech companies. That means there are fewer experienced people for Taiwan companies to lure back home. "Because Taiwan's electronics industry has progressed so fast, most of my friends are more willing to stay in Taiwan and get into the industry as early as possible," says Lee Hsinte, a 32-year-old engineer for chip designer Mobilic Technology. He has a master's degree from National Chiaotung University, which has a prestigious engineering program. ..."

Pearl

Pearl was found in a woods near a desolate remote fishing port when she was only two months old. A kind young lady happened to find a few stray dogs clustering near a pond crunching dead stinky fish. One of the dogs looked weird, burying her head deep into the earth, "looking for" food with her nose. She behaved in an awkward way, stepping forward and backward aimlessly, bumping into the wall, and then retreated, going toward another direction, running into the wall again. Out of curiosity, the young lady went closer to the dog. Shockingly, she found the ...» full story

So?

I ALREADY SELDOM talk at home.
My father STILL says "you're useless, you'd better go kill yourself".
So?
................
Thought in my mind:
So why had sex with my mother and let me suffer in the world?
[If] You didn't have sex with my mother. --> I'm not here in the world. --> I won't have to kill myself.
Right?

Writing from Hotel Royal Chiao Hsi (Jiao Xi)

My tour members and I got here about 2 hours ago.
Just a quick message:
I like the environments here in Yilan (Ilan) County.
It's less populated, more relaxing (although I'm working, working less stressfully).
We're staying at a very nice hotel providing many great facilities, Hotel Royal Chiao Hsi (Jiao Xi).
We'll be back to Taipei (Taibei) tomorrow night.
And I'll be back home (Toufen Township, Miaoli County) after I say goodbye to them tomorrow night in Taipei (Taibei).
That'll be very late at night.

If you want me ......

If you (and your family or friends) are interested in touring Taiwan and plan to come here in the future, and would like me to be your designate tour guide, please tell the travel agency in your country to contact the travel agency in Taiwan. Let both of them know you would like me to be your tour guide.

I’m a part-timer/freelance. Any travel agency in Taiwan can hire me as a part-time tour guide. But I’m a member of the Tourist Guide Association, ROC (Taiwan). (twtga@ms51.hinet.net)
You may also contact the association. Let the three parties (the travel agency in your country, the travel agency in Taiwan and the Tourist Guide Association, ROC) work together for your trip.

As to other details to discuss or questions to ask, please don’t hesitate to email me. (Maybe you would like to stay with my whole family as a temporary family member instead of staying in hotels.)

Sincerely,
Lin, Yu-Hua

Audience Choice Award:Saving Face

I watched the 2005 Taipei (Taibei) Golden Horse Awards on TV last night. Michelle Kruseic didn't win the Best Leading Actress, but Saving Face won the Audience (Viewers') Choice Award!!!

It's O.K., Michelle Kruseic. It's your first time. Come back next year. No, come back EVERY YEAR! :) We love you! TAIWAN LOVES YOU!

Whe Michelle Kruseic said, "it took [Alice Wu] five years to make this independent movie", I was talking to myself, "hum...., yes, it takes time, courage, perseverance and many other factors to fufil, to accomplish something you really want to make it happen."

As I know, the mother and daughter relationship touch many who have seen the movie. It's just like what happens in the real life. I believe it made many viewers reflect on their relationship with their own moms.

Looking forward to Alice Wu's next movie!

History Lesson

(The thread was originally [copied] from Music To Go forum, ICRT)

(Michael Turton's comment on this thread was posted on Music To Go.)
......................................
Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.'
Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln' made by 'Ford.'

Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here's the kicker...

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

TOEIC Certificate of Achievement

TOEIC Certificate of Achievement (08/28/2005)
Listening: 450
Reading: 420
Total: 870
I intentionally did not prepare for the TOEIC well. I just headed to Taipei (Taibei), attended the TOEIC exam for the first time to see what the total score will be.
My goal for next year (some time next year) is "Total: 900 (at least)", meaning "Listening: 450, Reading: 450.

Ps. I'd like to learn Cantonese, too. Cantonese is spoken in Hong Kong and Guangdong Province in China. My ancestors came from Mei County, Guangdong Province, China. But they (and my family members) spoke/speak Hakka (also a dialect in Guangdong).Posted by Picasa

Elizabeth and ... and ... a pretty lady in pink. OoOops, my bad, didn't ask for your name. But I DO remember you laugh out loud when I introduced "Shilin Night Market" to all of you on the tour bus. "When you get off the train from the Jiantan station (Red Line), how to get to Shilin Night Market? Just follow .... THE CROWD!!!" I was serious! Haha! Shilin Night Market is the biggest one among the many night markets in Taiwan. It's also the most favorite for many foreign visitors. Anything you can think of, you can find it at Shilin Night Market and buy them WITH JUST A small AMOUNT OF MONEY. Oh, and don't forget "Brown Sugar" for jazz music and "Room 18" for....clubbing if you have time before you leave. Posted by Picasa

Taipei 101 11082005 - 1-5

The location was Taipei 101. The time was around 8 p.m. They're Elizabeth and Mark. They along with many others from various countries around the world are attending "2005 International Forensic Science Symposium" It's the 2nd day/night for them. Hope ALL OF THEM enjoy BOTH the rest of the symposium and the rest of the week touring other places around the capital city and the East Coast of Taiwan (I heard that you guys are heading to the East Coast before you leave for home). The East Coast is astonishing, facinating with grandeur, VERY different from what you see in the West of Taiwan! (Sorry, I can't accompany you guys to there. I wish I could.)
